I have an old shovel from the Great Depression hanging on the wall above my desk. It was my Grandpa John’s that he used to carry with him to find day labor when work was short and times were hard. He was a great man who dug deep in this life so that my father and family could have a place. These songs are called Shovel Songs because they will have been dug for, written and recorded by orinary people, in communities all over the world to create heart-space for the birthing of new songs. These projects typically last three hours, from the song-writing session to the recording. Email me if you’re interested in hosting one.
